Another Sibling Rivalry are: Ray Beez
& Vanbraun
January, 1999
After
discovering the power of digitally composed music, two brothers
from the small city of Sherbrooke, Quebec spent 4 years learning
and experimenting. After 4 years of finetuning their skills, using
nothing more than home computers, the two decided to combine their
efforts, working off each other's strengths.
The Sibling Rivalry formed in 1998, with the battle beginning
in earnest, in September of 1998, with "Doper's Rage - Overdose
Mix". Created for an intense action scene in a short film produced
in Montreal, the power of these opposing brothers was unleashed.
Both brothers were fans of early pioneers like Yello, Kraftwerk,
and Art of Noise. Vanbraun's recent influences are electronic,
dance, and bands like Crystal Method. Ray Beez's influences are
darker, such as underground favorites Covenant, Leather Strip,
and Lords of Acid. With a vast array of unreleased experimental
compositions to draw inspiration from, the two nonetheless are
forward looking, creating amalgamations of dark electronic energy
mixed with dance-oriented anthems. The results are club-friendly
with an attitude.
In November
1999, the decision was made to modify the band name, resulting
in "Another Sibling Rivalry" (or "ASR").
Ray Beez is based in Toronto, Ontario, while Vanbraun is based
in Montreal, Quebec. ASR epitomizes the very essence of the cyber
music revolution: Their work is 100% digital, and they collaborate
strictly via internet communications.
